*Having breakfast jump starts your metabolism, so not eating keeps you sluggish , this can really affect your game

*Skipping breakfast leads to extra weight gain since you tend to eat more later in the day, you need to be in top condition , every extra pound slows you down

*It causes short term memory loss and mental fugue without fuel to get going.....you don't wsant to forget which goal is yours.

*It causes blood sugar spikes and can lead to development of type two Diabetes.  Low blood sugar can cause dizziness, the shakes, and other unpleasantness that may actually be dangerous  playing a sport.

*Let's face it, if you don't eat and you hit the ice hungry, you may just be a little irritable.  Now, who wants to play against a mean Hockey Player?    LOL

*In a very real sense it can also lead to heart attack and stroke, hardening of the arteries and other heart related problems.  Stay strong to play the game you love.

I think by now you have the idea, skipping breakfast is never good, for Hockey Players, and anyone wanting to play.

But what should you eat?   Tomorrow we will explore the best foods to eat to jump start your day.

Welcome to Ultimate Hockey Training, a blog dedicated to the training of Hockey players on and off of the ice. I encourage you to share your own personal tips and tricks here.

With the Hockey season under full swing, it is important for athletes to keep in excellent shape. It is also a good idea to keep your self in top physical shape off season also.  We will look into all three areas that a Hockey player needs to pay attention to: size, agility, endurance and strength.  There are specialized exercises to help you get the best out of yourself and give 100% to your game.

We will also explore nutrition, another side of the prime athlete's arsenal of tools to keep mind, body and spirit in total focus.  If you do decide to try out any of these ideas, whether from me or through guest comments, please keep in mind it's always best to get a Dr's ok before beginning.  You should do that whenever undertaking a new sport or exercise program.

Ok, so whether you are pro, or a backyard novice, keep checking back to add your ideas, tips, tricks and anything hockey you want to share.

One thing to keep in mind, as with any other sport....you must train for that sport.  Weight lifting is great for Bodybuilders, running tones the Track and Field star.....but there are certain moves and muscles exclusive to a Hockey player....so no matter where you train, make sure your training program is geared for your sport.
